Babymoon - Monterey, CA

This past memorial weekend we packed up our little family and headed to Monterey for our Babymoon! :)
We tried to make Socks sit in the back but ever since she had her seizure...she has the shakes in the car and pants like she's sufficating! :(  So, I had to sit in the back with her and she knocked out like there was no tomorrow! Poor little thing...we don't know how to fix her anxiety over car rides!

But she always loves the windows down...unfortunately we couldn't ride the whole way like that! But she appreciated every open window opportunity we could give her! Our first stop was Solvang.

Here's our family picture attempt in Solvang...Socks didn't want anything to do with it.

We strolled around their unique streets...it was sooooooo windy!

And stopped in one of their cute restaurants for lunch...

I think she was cold! but isn't she so cute?

Neal had a tuna melt and Socks and I shared a Philly steak sandwich

We loved the architecture and the whole theme in Solvang!
We meant to travel the rest of the way along the coast but unfortunately got detoured :(...we lost practically an hour or so trying to get back on the 101. BUT...Socks came in contact with her first Horse! She thought it was a Big Dog cause she kept barking at it like crazy...as if she was in charge! Crazy enough...the horse thought she was crazy and walked away! Socks was probably thinking "that's what I thought...walk away big doggy!"

We finally arrived in our cute boutique hotel in Monterey and was welcomed with all these goodies!

At first Socks didn't know what to do...but then started doing sprints around the whole room sniffing every corner and jumping on the bed! she loved it!

For dinner we went to the Fisherman's Wharf...again it was freezing!

Here's our wonderful driver!

We got free calamari appetizers..YUM

A well deserved wine for Neal!

Our DELICIOUS fresh seafood dinner!

Watching the sunset :)

She KNOCKED out as soon as we got back to the hotel....of course smack in the middle of our king sized bed :)

The next morning after having complimentary breakfast at our hotel...we started the day off with doing the famous 17-Mile Drive. We didn't know this 'drive' cost $9.50!!! Thankfully there were filipinos at the gate and Neal felt no shame to ask for a filipino discount...FREE!!! I couldn't believe it actually worked! I was in shock that we have literally taken in the "Extreme Couponing" attitude all the way to Monterey!

Socks enjoyed seeing the ocean...but hated it every time we got near waves...she's just like us...we just like to look at the ocean!

Our second attempt for a family photo...

They had so many golf courses...this was Neal's "heavenly" dream drive!

They had so many beautiful spots to stop and take pictures!
Socks taking the picture for us :)

Neal practically had a heart attack when we finally entered Pebble Beach area...he literally wanted to run over golfers so he could take their places!

Pebble Beach Golf Course...we went off course on the 17-mile drive and drove around the resort...one day we will stay there!

We then headed over to Carmel...which is a beautiful little town but so expensive! It was past lunch time and I was getting grouchy cause there weren't any good places to eat...I had to settle for a very expensive cookie and decided that Carmel wasn't for us and went back to Fisherman's Wharf.

They had such AMAZING fresh clam chowder! It felt so nice to be outside, eating fresh food by the ocean and listen to seals!

Towards the end of lunch we were all pretty pooped out...Socks couldn't even keep her head up! We all went back to the hotel and knocked out for an awesome nap...

At our hotel they had complimentary cheese and wine every afternoon...I got to enjoy a yummy lemonade :)

Later that evening we walked through Canary Row...sadly it was drizzling and made it quite hard to enjoy everything around us...but we did get to go shopping!

We ended up at Bubba Gump for dinner...it started raining but surprisingly there were crazy people like us who still ate outside.

Apparently, Socks didn't get enough sleep during nap time!

We got a free clam chowder for appetizer! (we were all about free things on this trip)

I had a delicious shrimps and broth dinner...

And Neal had an amazing crab legs bucket!

We tried to walk around a bit more and enjoyed Canary Row in the rain...

We had a very warm coffee and hot chocolate...

and we found a shop dedicated to Socks :)
We went back to the hotel and watched movies the rest of the night.
Savannah gaves a little scare though...I didn't feel her move for hours! We tried to belly massage her, I ate an orange, drank a pepsi and NOTHING! I even called the doctors and got voicemail until finally around 10:30 I raided the mini bar and got an apple juice and she finally moved! We think she was just thrown off schedule with everything going on and was on vacation herself! Everythings been good since then...I guess babies need vacations too!

The next morning we packed up our family again and spent the afternoon in Santa Barbara...It's always an amazing little town!

We had a fun, relaxing Babymoon...and Socks had a great time as well! I can't wait til we try to travel with the new little ladybug! Crazy enough...we still had enough energy when we got home to go to Babies R Us and shop for the rest of Savannah's things...slowly but surely we're getting there :)
