Our First Ultrasound!

Today was our first ultrasound appointment. And boy were we nervous! We woke up really early to get all our things ready for the big announcement tonight and the weekend...we had 30 mins to kill so we went to Champagnes and had a nice little breakfast. On the way to the appointment we were both a little nervous but all we could hope for was the best!
They saw us right away (they're pretty good about that....you don't even have enough time to read an article in a magazine!). The doctor came in and the first thing he said was "We're going to check you but we might not see anything today and there's no need to worry about that it's normal". Immediately I was kind of disappointed but hopeful that we might see Baby today. He checked my tubes to make sure everything was okay and then he checked the uterus. And right in the center of the screen we saw a little black sac!!! And he said "There's your baby!!!" We were clapping and saying "YAY!!!!" and he gave us our first picture of the baby:
Our next appointment is on Thursday, Dec. 2 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and the doctor said it would be better to schedule towards the end of the week cause then we might be able to hear the baby's heart beat!
Today, I am 5 weeks and 1 day.

Baby's now the size of an appleseed!Your embryo, which doesn't look like much more than a tadpole right now, is actually starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). Baby's presence in your uterus triggers production of HCG (the hormone detected by pregnancy tests), which triggers the production of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which triggers all those great symptoms you've probably been noticing!

We are estatic about tonight! Everyone's on board thinking they're going to be judging the bottles of wine "we made" =D
